Riding on the successful experience of the first Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) last year, the Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS) was once again exhibited in the second GIES held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 22-25 November 2018.

GIES is a flagship event co-organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to promote technological application and innovation to enhance the quality of life of the elderly in both the community and institutional settings. This year, the Electronic Health Record (eHR) Office joint hands with the Department of Health (DH) in hosting an exhibition booth to promote eHRSS and related programmes, including the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme, Vaccination Subsidy Scheme, as well as selected elderly health services of DH. The content and activities of the exhibition booth were even more engaging and enriched, comprising various interactive elements such as touch screen information panels, electronic book displays and 3D games to introduce to visitors the concepts and benefits of eHR sharing, and the technological application in eHRSS in enhancing healthcare service delivery. The booth had successfully appealed to a wide audience. Registration counters were also set up to carry out on-site registration. During the four-day event, about 550 members of the public had registered to join eHRSS.

Since its launch in 2016, eHRSS has received positive response from the community and the healthcare sector. As at end-November 2018, over 910,000 patients and over 1,600 healthcare providers had already registered with eHRSS.
