It has been the fourth consecutive year that the Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHealth) was exhibited at the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES). The event took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19 to 22 November 2020.

GIES is a flagship event jointly hosted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation to showcase latest innovative products and ideas of technology application with the aim to drive policy changes as well as societal and economic developments in Hong Kong to embrace opportunities brought about by population ageing.

As in the past three years, the Electronic Health Record Office continued to join hands with the Department of Health (DH) in hosting an exhibition booth at GIES to promote how eHealth and related programmes of DH, including the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme, the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme and the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme, support the delivery of enhanced primary healthcare services in Hong Kong through the innovative use of technology. In view of the epidemic situation, a motion sensing game was adopted to reduce contact and risk of cross infection. The game introduced the initial functions of the 醫健通 eHealth App which was targeted to be launched in the first quarter of 2021, with a view to promoting a new mode for managing public member’s own health.

Through the multimedia content of the booth, visitors were introduced to eHealth and its latest development, as well as DH’s related programmes. The four-day event attracted over 300 members of the public to register with eHealth on-site.

Since its launch in 2016, participation of the public and the healthcare sector in eHealth has been growing steadily. As at end-November 2020, over 1.4 million patients and over 2 100 healthcare providers had already registered with eHealth.
