Training on eHR and Onsite Registration Campaign at HA/DH Clinics

The Electronic Health Record Office (eHR Office) continued to provide training for healthcare and information technology (IT) professionals on electronic health record (eHR) sharing. At the same time, an on-site registration campaign has been planned for patients and the public to join the Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS).

 
eHR Seminar and Training
 
Seminars were held over the past few months for knowledge sharing and training for healthcare and IT professionals on the use of the eHRSS.
 

“Tools and Approaches for the Adoption of LOINC for Interoperable Exchange of Laboratory Data”

The seminar was held on 9 November 2015 to explore how private and public laboratories could transmit laboratory data electronically in a standardised format to generate interoperable laboratory results for better information sharing in the eHRSS. Dr Clement McDonald, Director of the Lister Hill National Centre for Biomedical Communications, National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), was invited to speak in a workshop on Adopting LOINC for Semantic Interoperability of Laboratory Data.

“eHealth in Action”

The seminar was held on 10 November 2015 with the purpose of updating healthcare and IT professionals of the progress and implementation of the eHRSS, strengthening their knowledge on eHR standards, and examining the use of health IT in the private sector.

 

“Refresher Course for eHR Service Provider Training Scheme”

A half-day refresher course was held on 30 November 2015 to equip eHR service providers, trained healthcare providers (HCPs) and interested parties with updated knowledge for providing end-user support services to HCPs on the installation and maintenance of the Clinical Management System (CMS) On-ramp. A total of 16 organisations attended the course, which covered also the latest development of the eHRSS, the Public-Private Interface-Electronic Patient Record Sharing Pilot Project (PPI-ePR) HCP registration process and the relevant technical set-up for connection.

 
eHRSS Onsite Registration Campaign
 
From March up to the end of 2016, registration counters will be set up at the clinics of the Hospital Authority (HA) and the Department of Health (DH) for the public and patients to register with the eHRSS as healthcare recipients (HCRs).

  48 HA outpatient clinics and DH clinics for about one to three months each
     
What to bring  

What to bring

  Hong Kong identity card (HKIC) holders: HKIC
  Non-HKIC holders: birth certificate, adoption certificate, valid travel documents, Certificate of Exemption, or acknowledgement of application for an identity card
     
How long will it take  

How long will it take

  Registration process for HKIC holders will take just a few minutes.
  More time may be required for non HKIC registrations.

What to pay

  Joining the eHRSS is voluntary and free-of-charge.

During the registration campaign, uniformed mobile team members will be on-site to offer assistance.
